Summary:
Travis Jackson died as a result of smoke inhalation after battling a four-alarm fire in the vacant Leland Hotel downtown.

Making numerous trips into the burning building, Jackson commented that the smoke was so thick that he couldn't see the flames. After making his final trip into the building, Jackson was carried out by fellow firefighters and emergency personnel to a waiting ambulance.

He died several hours later at John Peter Smith Hospital.
