Summary:
Richard S. Rockett was a former full time firefighter who was volunteering with the Hook and Ladder company. Richard Rockett was fatally injured when he was thrown from a hook and ladder truck while en route to a fire. The rear wheels of the truck ran across Rockett's chest. Rockett died 20 minutes later.

The death is well documented in the Fort Worth Register Morning Edition, Feb. 26, 1902.
