Summary:
On Nov. 11, 1935, Retired Officer G. Parker Driskill died at his north Fort Worth home. His death was an indirect result of severe injuries he suffered after being struck by a motor vehicle as he stepped off a curb in the downtown area. According to newspaper accounts, the traffic accident occurred in 1931.

After the accident, Officer Driskill was only able to work sporadically and never returned to full duty status. Officer Driskill was granted a pension by the Fort Worth City Council, retroactive to July of 1935. The pension, $50 per month, was granted for a medical retirement relating to his on the job injury.

In 2001, I interviewed retired Fort Worth Fire Battalion Chief Alton Bostick. Chief Bostick was 93 years of age and hired on to the Fort Worth Fire Department in 1931. Chief Bostick recalled that there was a Fort Worth Police Officer that was struck by a car one night, and that the officer died some time later. Chief Bostick added that the officer was directing traffic near the scene of a fire at the time of the accident. He was unable to recall the name of the officer. He did recall that it occurred in the 1930's.

In 2004, I was able to contact descendants of Officer Driskill. Officer Driskill's son, then 102 years old and living in a nursing hime, remembered that his father had been a police officer and that the death had something to do with a traffic accident. He was unable to provide more information.
