Summary:
Officer Darrell G. Moon, a plainclothes officer assigned to the vice squad, died July 14, 1980, from a gunshot wound he sustained in a shootout in downtown Fort Worth.
He and three other officers were attempting to arrest three young men they had been pursuing when Moon was accidentally shot in the head with a bullet fired from the gun of his partner.

Darrell, I didn\'t know about you until I was 21 years old. Or, as most parents would say old enough to know better. I found out that you were a man of great courage who had desire and strength to protect others. I wish that we knew each other when you were with us. I feel that you are with me at bad times and I see your face through my children\'s eyes. I wish that I had more of your family\'s information to know more about the father I never knew.
