The Fort Worth Police and Fire Fighters
Memorial Committee was formed in 2000. In its first order of business, the committee asked the City of Fort Worth to donate a park location for the memorial.  The Fort Worth Parks Department researched sites and presented several options to the committee. The Memorial Committee chose a location in Trinity Park.

A site plan for the memorial at this location was presented to the City of Fort Worth Parks Board.  The board approved the location and offered input.  The Memorial Committee made site plan adjustments according to the input received from the Parks Board. A contract was developed, approved and executed by both the City of Fort Worth and the Memorial Committee to use the park site.

Honorable Charlie Geren, Honorary Chair

"On behalf of the men and women who protect our city every day and those who died on our behalf, I ask you to be a part of building this tribute to their service and bravery."

Bob Kolba, Chair

"The memories of these heroes must survive the ages and live in perpetuity.  This memorial is but a small token of remembrance and a belated symbol of gratitude from our entire community.  Its presence will also be a constant reminder of all those who unselfishly continue to assure a high level of safety and security to all citizens."

Robert Fernandez

"Those who respond to our cries for help deserve our thanks.  Those who have responded to our cries and paid with their lives have earned our community's eternal gratitude that will be reflected in this memorial."

Dan Feehan

"We have a wonderful opportunity to show our appreciation to a group of distinguished citizens.  A lasting tribute to their lasting legacy is in order."

Vernell Sturns

"I am proud to be associated with our community's efforts to memorialize the fine men and women who gave their lives on our behalf.  Their lives may have quietly slipped from our memory, but we will change that. Their humanity and their stories will be shared with our community through this memorial."

Mrs. Rosie Moncrief

"The Police and Fire Fighters Memorial is a wonderful tribute to the best of our community.  We can offer a lasting 'thank you' to the special people who will be honored.  It is my hope that all Fort Worth citizens will come together as we embark on this effort...a true celebration of heroism."

Officer Lee Jackson
President
Fort Worth Police Officers Association

"Since becoming a police officer 21 years ago, our department has lost five officers and I have lost five friends.  This is the memorial that we don't want to build, but that must be built."

Battalion Chief Jim Tate
President
Fort Worth Fire Fighters Association

"Unfortunately, the pain never leaves after losing a fellow fire fighter.  Many of us in the department have lost a friend at some point. This memorial will help heal the lingering pain for friends and family."

Sergeant Billy Samuel
Vice President
Fort Worth Police Officers Association

"My sincere thanks to all who are working to make the Police and Fire Fighters Memorial a reality.  It is a first class "thank you" to our fallen brothers and sisters."

Captain Pat Vasquez
Vice-President
Fort Worth Fire Fighters Association

"Because of the memorial, my family will have the opportunity to show our public respect for my co-workers who have been lost.  I can't tell you what that means to us."

Sergeant Kevin Foster
Fort Worth Police Officers Association
Ex-officio member of the Board and Research Director for the memorial

"I have seen dozens of police and fire memorials.  Ours will reflect the goodness of our fallen brothers and sisters and the respect our city has for them.  My pride is growing every day as we realize the reality of having such a moving tribute.
